Overview

Using a combination of didactic lecture, visual case studies, and hands-on learning this workshop will provide foundational training on the utility of transvaginal pelvic sonography in the primary care setting. In addition to basic ultrasound physics, terminology, and proper scanning techniques, this course will cover the identification of normal gynecologic anatomy, expected findings for each menstrual phase, the basic infertility assessment, IUD location, and recognition of common pathologies including PCOS, leiomyomas, endometrial hyperplasia, and ovarian cysts. Participants will also learn the fundamental techniques for assessing normal and abnormal early first-trimester pregnancies and how to establish an accurate gestational age.
